Daniel Gannon
Executive Director, Retirement Living Council
Daniel Gannon is the Executive Director of the Retirement Living Council (RLC), the national leadership body within the Property Council of Australia advocating for the retirement living sector. He has more than a decade of experience leading teams and organisations across politics, property, seniors’ living and public policy. Before joining the RLC in 2022, Daniel served as the Property Council’s Executive Director in South Australia, where he led high-profile advocacy campaigns, influenced major policy decisions and built deep connections across government and industry. In his current role he works closely with federal, state and territory governments to increase the supply of age-friendly housing and to shape policy that supports better housing outcomes and wellbeing for older Australians. He is regularly sought for national commentary on housing, ageing, economic and demographic issues and was inducted as a Global Ageing Influencer at the 2025 World Ageing Festival.
Under Daniel’s leadership the RLC has strengthened its voice on national issues including housing supply, planning reform, tax policy and the role of retirement communities in broader health and aged care systems. The Council champions policies that boost investment in age-friendly communities and promote regulatory transparency and quality standards for residents, including through voluntary codes of conduct and industry submissions. Daniel’s background in media, communications and government relations helps him bridge industry and public sectors to deliver advocacy outcomes that align with demographic trends and the needs of older Australians.
